@JasonAgnew__ Could Raspberry Pi’s be feasible? We ran a programme with a local school where I bought a box load of rpi’s and peripherals and they found a load of old monitors. Plenty powerful enough for a lot of dev and also the potential to play with gpio.

@MatthewOPersico @JacobyDave Hi - Celestron 8” scope with a (2nd hand ) Canon 750D camera (and t-adapter). Manual tracking and trial and error on F stop, ISO and exposure timing. This is all new to me last month, and I’m amazed at what is possible. Are you thinking of taking it up?

@hellogeri @VirtualAstro @SimonPJelley The stacking software made a huge difference to the results I had - the actual shots moved around quite a bit in the frame over the sequence and the stacker handled it really well - maybe worth a go. But I think watching the moon real-time is our favourite way to enjoy the skies

@SimonPJelley So pleased to hear it is possible to get such cracking results.... a little while after purchase when I started thinking of photography, quite a few forums were flagging its the wrong type of mount for photos

@SimonPJelley I got an Evolution 8 HD (which sounds like it’s maybe the same as yours) I really wanted the kids (and me) to be able to live view a lot, to make it all feel more real - we’ve spent ages gazing at the moon.

@SimonPJelley Great to know I think having a laptop out detracts from it being relaxing .... I have also been researching the ASIair pro ... which appears to be self contained (and on a raspberry pi base)

@SimonPJelley ... it sounds like I might have the same mount as your altazimuth too ... again brilliant to see what might be possible before I need to go spending more.... I have a simple cable interval timer, which I’m going to try next (let’s hope for clear skies)

@SimonPJelley It sounds like I might have a very similar scope to you, and so it is really inspiring to see what it could be capable of producing if I keep learning and experimenting - theses are amazing shots. (Have you got a site of your Astro images somewhere?)

@SimonPJelley I bought an 8” Celestron last month, which seem pretty good - but I think the mount is more suited to lunar/planets than deeper space. What tracking mount are you using?

@SimonPJelley The stacking is something I need to explore , though it seems that the favoured software is windows (and I am on Mac) Last night I was trying my first 60s+ exposures and was getting some trailing. So a long sequence of 40s makes sense to try next.
